My experience with books is that they are as good as the reader’s willingness to act and implement. My observation before the COVID-19 crisis is that many people were suffering from “irrational exuberance” as the former U.S. Federal Reserve Chairman Allan Greenspan ably put it. The stock markets in the developed world were on a high. In the developing world, there was a property boom with prices at an all-time high. Personal and government debt was on a record high. Even when skeptics pointed out that what goes up, sometimes comes down, few cared to listen. Unfortunately, the crisis emanating from the COVID-19 pandemic was not something that we were able to predict. Worse still, it found us in a situation where we expected the gravy train to be still steaming ahead at full throttle. Now that reality has checkmated us, we must rise up once again and begin the great rebuild. Some people are even predicting that COVID-19 and its resultant effects might as well change the socio-economic landscape and fabric of our society. Entrepreneurship is the path of learning, training others, and succeeding as part of a team. The post-crisis period will be a time to separate true business people from pretenders. I do not claim to have special answers to all your post-crisis questions about the economy, money and personal finance. However, I have been around for quite bit in these neck of the woods to know much of what works and what doesn’t. I also see it as my duty to share with you the little God has given me.
